Helen of Nowhere
An unnamed teacher and author struggles with his fall from relevance and the failure of his marriage. As he contemplates these failures. He finds solace from a Realtor and the owner of a house he's trying to buy. This is part ghost story. Part satire. Part absolute fever dream.
There are a lot of strong therapy thoughts that I think a lot of couples will find relatable. However, I can't seem to pinpoint what the point of the story is in my mind. She was shitting on men for much of it, but I wonder if that's my own projection. Would a man read this and see it differently? Maybe the end just means that men are dogs, because if so... knew it.
It was fun to read but it did not leave me wanting more.
Writing was good, it was just strange. And while strange is something that I lean towards, the ending just didn't hit (nor did it feel satisfying)
